Earlier this week, we reported on a video posted by a group of Democrats calling for military and intelligence officials to defy President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Trump is now well aware of the message, and he is not taking it lightly.
In fact, Trump is now calling for the lawmakers' arrests.
When I saw the video made by the legislators, I could not believe my eyes.
As I stated in my prior report, as much as I disliked and disapproved of Biden Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, I would never have even considered suggesting to military members that they defy his orders.
The video at issue, which we posted in our previous report, suggested that active military and intelligence officials defy orders given to them by Trump and Hegseth, presumably those regarding cartel strikes and domestic deployments.
The group of Democrats was made up of members of Congress who had either served in the military or within intelligence agencies before entering the legislature.
Democrats don’t like the aforementioned cartel strikes, so rather than fighting Trump on the matter, they took their concerns directly to the troops.
Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) stated, “There’s a real issue there of morale and a feeling like they don’t have a lot of senior leaders who are protecting them. There’s a lot of folks in the rank and file who feel very alone.”
Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) added, “What does this mean for their future if they find out later that they did this without legal justification? It puts them in legal jeopardy at some point.”
Well, if servicemembers or intelligence community personnel have concerns, they should be raised with their commanding officers or to JAG authorities, then they can be properly addressed. However, legislators should not be instructing them to refuse orders to score political points.
Trump is livid over the video and the message sent by the Democrats, writing on Truth Social, “It’s called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL.”
He continued, “Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL. Their words cannot be allowed to stand -- We won’t have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET.”
Trump later posted, “This is really bad, and Dangerous to our Country. Their words cannot be allowed to stand. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP???” He then added, “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!”
I think that suggesting putting lawmakers to death is a bit over the top, but Trump has every right to be angry. What the Democrats did was way over the line and cannot be tolerated, at least in my opinion.
