Actor Chad Lowe and wife Kim Painter are mourning their 13-year-old daughter Fiona, asking for prayers and privacy after a heartbroken family statement.
Page Six reported that the couple shared news of Fiona’s death in a statement released Tuesday, describing a devastating loss for their whole household.
Fiona was 13. She is survived by her parents and her sisters, Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10. The family gave no public details on the date, place, or cause of death and asked to be left alone as they grieve.
In the statement given to Page Six, her parents remembered a warm, creative girl who lit up their home.
"We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance,"
They continued:
"She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time."

On Tuesday morning, the principal at Fiona’s school emailed parents about the death of a student. The note did not name her.
"It is with deep sadness that I am calling you to advise you of the death of one of our students,"
The principal added condolences for the student’s family, friends, and teachers, and said counselors were available for students and staff who needed support.
Chad Lowe, 58, has long spoken publicly about life as a dad to daughters. He and producer Kim Painter married in August 2010. He was previously married to Hilary Swank; that marriage ended in January 2006 after eight years. He is the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe.
In November 2025 he posted on Instagram for Fiona’s birthday, writing that he was “Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!” and adding, “Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!” The post showed her smiling in cowboy boots.
Months earlier, in February 2025, he shared photos of his girls visiting what remained of their Los Angeles childhood home after it was destroyed in the Palisades fire. He wrote that their handling of the loss was “nothing short of remarkable,” said he was “in awe of their spirit and resilience,” and called being their dad “my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”
On the “Still Here Hollywood” podcast in August 2024, Lowe said raising three daughters had changed how he saw the world, putting questions of fairness for women “in my heart” and leading him to “look at the world, really, from their perspective.”
Those public notes now sit beside a private grief no parent wants. A family that asked for prayer and quiet should get both, and a culture that talks endlessly about kids’ well-being ought to mean it when a household is shattered.
