Stepping in. After Donald Trump was defeated by several “activist” judges, the U.S. Supreme Court is stepping in to settle a major case that will have Democrats outraged. Thankfully, for Trump, conservatives have a huge edge on the Court. Read more
The leftist media is making out the alleged Minneapolis shooter to have given no signs of trouble before he opened fire on a local church, killing two children. Now, however, social media is exploding with videos posted by the alleged gunman, all showing very concerning behavior that should have put authorities on alert…
I knew today’s “thought” on Trump’s flag-burning order and freedom of speech would generate a big response, and you guys did not disappoint. We received a lot of great comments both in favor and against, but since we could only pick two, here they are. We start with a comment from Virginia L. of Charleston, S.C., who supported the ban:
“While I respect the principle of free speech, the American flag is different. It's not just a piece of cloth; it's the sacred symbol of our nation and represents every soldier who fought, bled, and died for our freedom."
“Burning the flag isn't speech; it's a hateful act of desecration against their memory and the very fabric of our country. I believe some things are sacred, and Old Glory is one of them. President Trump is right to protect it. That symbol is the reason we have any rights at all.”
Then there was Scott B. from Concord, N.H., who was against the order:
“I find flag burning to be a disgusting and disrespectful act. That said, I stand with you and Orwell on this. The entire point of the First Amendment is to protect speech that is unpopular and even offensive."
“The Supreme Court has affirmed this principle multiple times. The moment we allow the government to start carving out exceptions for symbolic acts we don't like, we have started down a very slippery slope toward tyranny. As much as I support President Trump on most issues, true patriotism is defending the Constitution, even when it’s hard. On this specific issue, he is wrong.”
This is clearly a passionate issue for both sides, but each of these people are Trump supporters, so I just wonder how it will impact the president and Republicans moving forward.
