Ever since Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was snubbed by Donald Trump for a position in his Cabine and then reportedly blocked from mounting a Senate bid, she and the president have been on the outs.
Greene has pushed back on numerous administration policies, including subsidy extensions for Obamacare, and now she is calling out Trump for his meeting this week with a Syrian official.
Up to this point, Trump has held his tongue, but he just unleashed on the lawmaker, confirming that Greene is now officially on the outs in the MAGA universe.
Prior to Trump's latest statements, Greene had already broken with the presisdent on several issues.
She called him out for adding people like Elon Musk, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Tulsi Gabbard to his administration while snubbing people like herself who had been part of the MAGA movement from the outset.
Then she pushed back on the big, beautiful bill, as well as Trump's position on the Jeffrey Epstein files. As the debate began over the continuing resolution (CR) sought by Republicans, Greene broke the party line to demand that the healthcare subsidies be left in the spending bill. She stated, “Let’s just say as nicely as possible, I’m not a fan. But I’m going to go against everyone on this issue because when the tax credits expire this year my own adult children’s insurance premiums for 2026 are going to DOUBLE, along with all the wonderful families and hard-working people in my district.”
Greene continued, “No I’m not towing the party line on this, or playing loyalty games. I’m a Republican and won’t vote for illegals to have any tax payer funded healthcare or benefits. I’m AMERICA ONLY!!!”
Now, she is pushing back against Trump’s recent meeting with Syrian President Muhammad Al-Jawlani.
She posted, “The new leader of Syria is a former Al Qaeda terrorist wanted by our government who is meeting with President Trump today at the White House on the U.S. Marine’s 250th anniversary.”
Greene continued, “He rose to power in Dec 2024, sanctions were lifted off Syria in June, and many Christians and minority groups have been killed before and after sanctions were lifted.”
Trump had been very quiet about Greene's public statements up to that point, but this appeared to push him to his limit.
Trump’s loyalty only goes so far, and when you start calling him out publicly, it is only a matter of time before he comes out spitting venom, and that moment has come for Greene.
On her decision to push back on all things Trump, he stated, “I don’t know what happened to Marjorie. She’s a nice woman, but I don’t know what happened. She’s lost her way, I think, but I have to view the presidency as a worldwide situation, not locally. We could have a world that’s on fire where wars come to our shores very easily if you had a bad president.”
After calling Biden a “horrible president,” he then added, “When you’re president, you really have to sort of watch over the world because you are going to be dragged into it otherwise.”
That was actually tame for Trump, but it does show that he is losing his patience with Greene. Based on the reaction to her X post, MAGA is done with her as well.
