Donald Trump always seems to have a rather interesting holiday message, which usually features just as much venom as it does well wishes.
This year was more of the same, as Trump included a rant against Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) before wishing everyone a happy holiday.
The administration also announced that it plans on overhauling the vetting process for foreigners as well as possibly conducting a review of all previously vetted migrants in the wake of a shooting in D.C. that cost one National Guard member her life and left another still in critical condition.
Trump had some time on his hands last night, so he went nuclear on Walz, posting, “Somalian gangs are roving the streets looking for ‘prey’ as our wonderful people stay locked in their apartments and houses hoping against hope that they will be left alone.”
He continued, “The seriously retarded Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, does nothing, either through fear, incompetence, or both.”
Trump also unloaded on Omar with a comment I am sure is going to have the left calling him racist, labeling her the “worst ‘Congressman/woman’ in our country” who is “always wrapped in her swaddling hijab.”
Trump also suggested that Omar “probably came into the USA illegally.”
With Trump going off over the D.C. attack, the Afghan community in the country is pleading with the president to tone it down a bit.
The Afghan Community Coalition of United States agreed that we need a “comprehensive investigation” over the shooting, but it further stated, "Twenty years of Afghan-US partnership must not be forgotten.”
One Afghan who has resettled in the U.S. spoke anonymously with the media, stating, "Afghans in the United States are hardworking, tax-paying members of society. They remain grateful to America for the evacuation efforts during the crisis in Kabul."
Crystal Bayat, an Afghan human rights activist who came to this country in 2021, is now nervous about her future in the country. She stated, "I have a fear every single day that what if the policy changes and they deport us from here?"
While the suspect in the shootings was let into the country during the Biden administration, reports have been blowing up all day that his asylum approval was actually granted by the Trump administration.
The White House has responded by saying that it wants to reinterview the refugees who entered the country after Biden's Afghanistan withdrawal, stating, “Corrective action is now being taken to ensure those who are present in the United States deserve to be here.”
Mark Hetfield, the president of HIAS, a refugee resettlement organization, responded, “Just the threat of this is unspeakably cruel. … To threaten refugees with taking away their status would be re-traumatizing and a vicious misuse of taxpayer money.”
I support the move, as I think the vetting process overall has been flawed, as we have far too many crimes being committed in this country by migrants who entered this country during the Biden administration. Having said that, Democrats are going to milk this for all its worth, so get ready for a media storm claiming that the Trump administration is racist and Islamophobic.
