Ever since Donald Trump took office, the subpoenas and indictments have been flying.
Democrats and the media all say this amounts to the weaponization of the DOJ, but what if those under scrutiny actually did break the law? Has anyone even considered that?
There have been some big names dropped on this front, but the latest to go under the microscope is former Obama CIA Director John Brennan.
Earlier this summer, rumors started to circulate that Brennan was being targeted by the DOJ.
When asked about a possible investigation, he responded, “Quite frankly, I don’t know what is true, you know.”
He later added, “If it was a referral, if there is an investigation, presumably if there is an investigation, people will be questioned. I would be questioned about it, but again, I’ve had no contact from them.”
For me, this was about as exciting as it gets, as Brennan, I believe, was a key figure in the “rogue” element of the government I constantly speak about and someone who needs to be held accountable.
In October, word came down that the House Judiciary Committee had issued a referral to the DOJ regarding Brennan.
Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) wrote, “Brennan made numerous willfully and intentionally false statements of material fact contradicted by the record established by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) and the CIA.”
He continued, “Making false statements before Congress is a crime that undermines the integrity of the Committee’s constitutional duty to conduct oversight.”
Brennan has to be held accountable for the nonsense he pulled with the Steele dossier. Even if the charges he faces are not specifically related to that saga, this is a man who lied to the American people, lied to Congress, and went rogue to take down Trump. He cannot be permitted to get away with that.
The good news on this front came down on Wednesday afternoon, as it was reported via sources that the DOJ was about to issue grand jury subpoenas related to the Brennan case.
U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida Jason Reding Quiñones is reportedly leading the probe, but he has not commented publicly on anything yet.
To be clear, Brennan has not been indicted, as this is the early work for grand jury witnesses. But if prosecutors are at this stage, they clearly believe they have enough evidence to establish probable cause and get an indictment from the grand jury.
In my opinion, based on how Brennan has been acting lately, he not only feels the walls closing in, but he is also getting very nervous. People like Brennan have acted with impunity in our government for decades, and there is no way he ever thought he would be held accountable for his actions. Well, there is a new sheriff in town, and Brennan, hopefully, has a date with Lady Justice.
