On Wednesday, two National Guard members were brutally attacked in D.C.
Sadly, one of them has already succumbed to her wounds and passed away.
The death will surely impact how this administration handles the vetting of foreigners as it moves forward.
The shooting took place on Wednesday, as the Guard members were allegedly ambushed by Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who reportedly drove from Washington state to D.C. for the sole purpose of attacking Guard troops deployed there.
The victims were identified as 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom and 24-year-old Andrew Wolfe.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro explained, "One guardsman is struck, goes down, and then the shooter leans over and strikes the guardsman again. Another guardsman is struck several times.”
It was then reported that Beckstrom was in dire straits, as her father announced that she was not expected to survive her injuries.
Thanksgiving Day brought some very somber news, as it was announced that Beckstrom had indeed succumbed to her injuries and died.
Her father, Gary Beckstrom, posted to Facebook, “My baby girl has passed to glory. If I don't talk to you don't be offend [sic] this has been a horrible tragedy.”
Trump also posted an update on her death, stating, "At approximately 2:15 p.m., on November 26, 2025, U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, assigned to the Force Support Squadron, 167th Airlift Wing, West Virginia Air National Guard, and U.S. Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, assigned to the 863rd Military Police Company, 111th Engineer Brigade, West Virginia Army National Guard, were wounded in a shooting near the Farragut Square Metro Station in Washington, D.C."
Wolfe remains in critical condition.
Trump is already looking to make changes to the vetting process for migrants, especially Afghans who resettled here after Biden’s withdrawal from their country.
He stated, “He went cuckoo, he went nuts. And that happens too often with these people. There was no vetting or anything. They came in unvetted. And we have a lot of others in this country. We’re going to get them out.”
That statement, however, is already backfiring on the president, as there are now reports that while Rahmanullah Lakanwal was part of Biden’s resettlement program, his asylum was approved by the Trump administration. I have not had time to vet that yet, but the report is running wild right now. If that is the case, it will undermine every attack the administration is firing at Biden right now.
If the Trump administration did approve this man's asylum claim, it is going to be a nightmare situation for the GOP and this administration, as Democrats are going to lock and load to use this against Trump. He just cannot afford this right now, as the party is really struggling to gain grip and get back on track for the 2026 election cycle.
