The hypocrisy in the Democrat Party has never been more evident than it was when it came to the text messages sent by Jay Jones in Virginia, who just won the race to become the state's attorney general.
Jones had sent horrifying text messages about a Republican in office, literally discussing the benefit of putting “two bullets to the head” of his political adversary.
Had it been a Republican who authored those texts, his or her candidacy would have been ended immediately, but Democrats brushed the controversy aside, and Jones wound up winning his election. According to Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), those texts were nothing more than a distraction manufactured by the GOP.
In the text messages that were leaked to the media and eventually made part of a GOP attack ad against Jones, he wrote, "Three people, two bullets," and "Gilbert gets two bullets to the head."
There were also horrible texts about Gilbert’s children.
Todd Gilbert was, at the time of the messages, the State House speaker in Virginia.
Jones issued the apology three years after writing the texts, but that was only because he got caught, and the situation became a national headline.
The media knew that it could not hide these texts from the public, and most did not even pretend to stick up for Jones.
For instance, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough stated, "He probably should be forced to withdraw from the race. And probably is doing a lot there."
The party itself rallied behind Jones, however, and he wound up winning his race, which is absolutely unbelievable to me. To me, this was a major alarm bell warning of what will happen in 2026, as voters in notable numbers are just walking away from the GOP right now.
In the end, the race was not even close, as incumbent Republican Jason Miyares lost by more than 200,000 votes, or 6.2%, which is a very healthy margin, especially when you consider context of the texting scandal.
Again, we all know what would have happened if these had been a Republican's texts, but since they were from a Democrat, people like Crockett have no problem with his texts.
On Jones’ win, she stated, "And I was very excited to see that he was able to pull off the win. Not that I know him – I've never met him, I've never talked to him -- but because it seems like people did not get caught up in the distractions.”
Now, we are talking about the top state law enforcement official talking about murdering a political opponent… that is pretty serious stuff.
But then again, Crockett is used to pushing violent messages herself, as she once stated about Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), "I mean, like this dude has to be knocked over the head, like hard, right? Like there is no niceties with him, like at all. Like you go clean off on him." So, what did we really expect from her?
