A disturbing report has just surfaced regarding public school expenditures in a liberal-controlled city.
According to the report, millions were spent on travel expenses for school officials, all while administrators railed about how little money they have to pay for programs meant to benefit children.
So, I put together a little report on why parents really need to start pushing back against the people who are supposed to be educating their children.
When I was in school, politics and ideology were the last things that came out of a teacher’s mouth.
I can still remember how much I loved and respected my teachers at the time; they were our heroes and a friendly voice who supported us and helped us regardless of our background.
Today, parents are concerned when they see homework that talks about the bad orange man, or their children are getting an LGBTQ+ agenda -- or worse -- pushed on them, and that is just the tip of the iceberg.
Heck, teachers are not even hiding it any longer, with some of them going on social media boasting about what they are doing.
A lot of tax money goes to schools, and the teachers who work in them all belong to unions, and those unions feed tens of millions of dollars to liberal advocacy groups and Democrat campaigns.
During the last election cycle, teachers' unions donated more than $40 million to these causes, all while crying that they don’t make enough money and don’t have sufficient resources for the children.
Sarah Parshall Perry, vice president and legal fellow at Defending Education, stated, “Teachers' unions don’t educate kids. They seemingly exist for no other reason than to spend money, complain about parental involvement in their children’s education, and advance left-wing causes wholly unrelated to improving educational outcomes in American schools.”
If the union is supporting left-wing issues and candidates, that means they are feeding teachers the information needed to get their support, and these days, that likely means the teachers are pushing those same perspectives on the children they teach.
Chicago is arguably one of the worst cities in the country in terms of reading levels, but the teachers there are racking up frequent flyer miles on the taxpayers' dime.
The Chicago Public Schools (CPS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) just revealed that Chicago schools reported $14.5 million in “excessive” travel expenses over fiscal years 2023 and 2024.
While administrators are traveling to conferences and writing it off as a school expense, only 30.5% of Chicago’s children in grades 3-8 are proficient at reading, and only 18.3% are proficient in math. Chicago pastor Corey Brooks stated, "It is a sad commentary on just how far our city has fallen and how bad the leadership is. These individuals believe that spending money on themselves benefits our educational system more so than spending it on the children who so rightfully deserve it."
In his neighborhood, he said reading proficiency is at 6%, which is horrific. Where are these teachers traveling? Las Vegas, Finland, Egypt, and South Africa, just to name a few recent destinations. I have a friend here in Texas who is a teacher who just spent nearly two months in Italy for a “teach abroad” experience, but it was nothing more than a vacation filled with a few hours of classes during the week. Our educational system is a dumpster fire, and now you know why Donald Trump wants to disband the Department of Education. It is useless.
