Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) has been in the news lately, defending his fellow Democrats who encouraged military members to defy orders from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and President Donald Trump.
Well, now he is in the news for something else, and it is not likely to sit well with the liberal horde.
Gallego was caught mocking his fellow Democrats in a way that completely defies the party’s LGBTQ+ agenda.
Gallego is a retired Marine, so he did not take kindly to Trump’s criticism of former intelligence and military members for their video encouraging the defying of orders given by Trump and Hegseth regarding drug boat strikes.
There were then reports that Hegseth was going to recall Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) to active duty in the Navy for the purpose of court-martialing him.
Gallego responded, “Donald Trump is going to be gone in a couple years. And if you’re part of the military that is going after sitting senators, sitting members of Congress, and part of the weaponization of government, there will be consequences, without a doubt.”
So, now he is openly threatening military members if they deem Kelly’s comments to be worthy of a court-martial? At least that is how I took it.
In the 2024 election cycle, the GOP was masterful in using the LGBTQ+ agenda against Democrats. The more the GOP pushed the issue, the harder the Democrats dug in, and it hurt them, as was obvious from how the 2024 election cycle panned out.
Behind the scenes, there were plenty of whispers about how some members did not agree with the agenda, and then we started to see public pushback by some regarding transgender individuals in women’s sports.
The problem for the party was that the formal position was never made truly clear. You had extremists, you had those walking the middle line, and you had some agreeing with the GOP, which led voters to Republican tickets.
Lanae Erickson, a senior vice president of the center-left think tank Third Way, explained, “What they thought, in November, was that Democrats thought there should be no rules. That’s a caricature of the position from the right. And if you are too scared to articulate what your position is, that’s what they hear.”
I bring all this up because of recently revealed text messages from Sen. Gallego, mocking members of his party. For instance, in one post, there is a meme featuring Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), she of the blue-purple dyed hair at the age of 82, with the caption, “IF ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION HAD A FACE.”
The recipient of the text wrote, “This is how the world views many of them,” and Gallego responded, “They aren’t wrong!”
Screenshots of other texts have Gallego writing, “We look like the not fun party. Always telling and correcting people.” He additionally texted, “Not allowing no men to men,” or “women to be hot,” He continued, “We used to be the party of se[x] drugs and rock and roll.”
If Gallego were a Republican, his career would be over right now. This is a huge deal, especially his comments about Rep. DeLauro. I have not seen any comments made by the Democrat Party or Gallego as of yet, but I am sure they are coming. Will this be enough to force Gallego out of office, or will he just get a slap on the wrist from the party? We will soon find out.
