The moment Donald Trump halted the release of the Epstein files, you just knew that Democrats would take up the fight to have them exposed.
Democrats finally got the numbers they needed to pass a discharge petition presented by Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY). The document has also since passed through the Senate and was signed by Trump.
Now, however, since the person taking the brunt of the heat is a former Clinton administration official, CNN’s Scott Jennings believes that the whole stunt has blown up in the Democrats' faces.
Among the Democrats long chirping about Trump and Epstein has been Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), a sufferer of severe TDS.
He is now questioning whether Trump will still play games and try to block the files from being released, something he says he would fight all the way.
When recently asked about the potentially imminent release of the files, Raskin responded, “It will definitely be a fight every day for a long time until we get all the materials released.”
The “game” Raskin is worried about is the DOJ opening up another Epstein investigation, which would put a hold on the documents, as they cannot be released if they are the subject of a current probe.
As we noted above, thus far, the only person truly hurt in this debacle is former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, who served during the Clinton administration.
Now, there is no need to go into Bill Clinton’s ties to Epstein, as they have been exhaustively covered, but Summers was a fairly new player in the scandal, and from released communications, he appeared to be far tighter with Epstein than anyone had ever realized.
After his texts and emails were released, Summers canceled public-facing obligations and appearances and went dark.
Now, however, with even more communications exposed, Summers has stepped back from his teaching role at Harvard and resigned from the board of OpenAI, with his office stating, “Mr. Summers has decided it’s in the best interest of the Center for him to go on leave from his role as Director as Harvard undertakes its review. His co-teachers will complete the remaining three class sessions of the courses he has been teaching with them this semester, and he is not scheduled to teach next semester.”
Jennings, the rare conservative pundit on CNN, believes that this, as well as Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) falsely accusing a number of Republicans of taking money from Epstein, has completely backfired (several GOP members did have money donated from a Jeffrey Epstein, but it is not the same Epstein convicted on pedophile charges).
The frequent CNN panelist commented, “[Crockett]’s the smartest person they could find. So they sent her to do this. And the reason is this, because they are desperate to make this a story about Trump and Epstein.”
He continued, “And the only thing we found out in the last week is that it’s a story about Democrats and Epstein. You got [Clinton-era Treasury Secretary] Larry Summers asking for dating advice from Epstein.”
In addition to Summers, Del. Stacey Plaskett (D-VI) was caught texting with Epstein back in 2019 while former Trump attorney Michael Cohen was in the hot seat during a committee hearing. It was also revealed that House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) was soliciting money from THE Jeffrey Epstein. So, yeah, I agree with Jennings; this has completely blown up in the faces of Democrats.
