There was a time when Joe Biden and Barack Obama were bracelet buddies and supposed best friends, but that no longer appears to be the case.
Obama was among those who moved against Biden's continued candidacy in the 2024 presidential race.
It would now appear that Biden is not letting that snub go, as reports are breaking that his relationship with Obama is now in tatters.
Joe Biden is not someone you would usually consider as a person who would make a viral post, but on National Best Friends Day in 2019, he did just that.
Biden posted two friendship bracelets, one with his name and one with Barack’s, on social media.
It was captioned, "Happy #BestFriendsDay to my friend, @BarackObama."
Biden got torched over the post, and there were even allies who thought Joe’s phone might have been hacked. For instance, former Obama adviser David Axelrod mused, "This is a joke, right?"
Now, if you followed Joe Biden before he became vice president, and I did, it seemed pretty apparent that his friendship with Obama was all a front, and there were plenty of rumors during the latter's administration that backed that up.
My theory was that Obama added Biden to the ticket as a way to lure in older, white voters, and it worked, but I will never believe that these two actually liked each other.
Then, when it was clear that Obama was driving the movement to have Joe Biden removed from the Democrat Party ticket in 2024, whatever existed of their relationship fractured.
Obama tried to soften the blow by issuing a gushing statement on his former VP, writing, "Joe Biden has been one of America's most consequential presidents, as well as a dear friend and partner to me. Today, we've also been reminded -- again -- that he's a patriot of the highest order.”
Now, if you know Joe Biden, you know that when you cross him, you become enemy number one, and the man can definitely hold a grudge. It seemed pretty apparent that Biden's relationship with everything and everyone who played a role in his ouster from the campaign was fair game for his ire, and that included Obama.
To that point, a report recently surfaced that Obama and Biden were separately dining at Café Milano in D.C., but they went out of their way to avoid each other when one would think they might have pulled up a couple of chairs and shared a table.
ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl noted they had no interaction at the restaurant. And when asked about the current state of the relationship, Karl responded, "Really bad. Really bad. Biden and the people around him very much blame Barack Obama for the effort to push Biden out of the campaign."
This is all probably partially influenced by Hunter Biden’s rage over Obama grabbing Joe’s arm at a major Democrat fundraiser while he was still on top of the ticket in the summer of 2024. Hunter went off about that during an unhinged YouTube video rant. I am sure he has told Joe that he can no longer trust Obama, and since Hunter is the “smartest man” the former president says he knows, he likely followed that advice.
