Over the last few weeks, we have seen some horrible accidents caused by migrant truckers who were in this country illegally.
Some very serious questions also arose about whether those drivers ever had the proper qualifications to get a license (the legality of the situation is very much up in the air right now).
Now, it is being reported that the recent revelations were not the result of isolated incidents, as there were roughly 17,000 licenses issued, unlawfully, to migrants.
Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy has been after Democrats to pull licenses from migrants who have overstayed their visas.
As we noted above, there has been a rash of accidents over the last few months involving illegal immigrants who were behind the wheel of tractor-trailers, so this has become a hot political football. To that point, Duffy stated, “We have a government system designed to keep American families on the road safe. But that system has been compromised.”
California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office responded, “Former D-list reality star, now Secretary of Transportation, still doesn’t understand federal law. We’ll respond to today’s letter in due course. In the meantime, unlike this clown, we’ll stick to the facts: California commercial driver’s license holders had a fatal crash rate nearly 40% lower than the national average. Texas -- the only state with more commercial holders -- has a rate almost 50% higher than California. Facts don’t lie. The Trump administration does.”
Once again, notice how Newsom’s team is stealing Trump’s style in the response, calling Duffy a “D-list reality star.” The man is all-in for using Trump’s 2024 playbook to position himself to win the 2028 presidential election.
In one of the above-referenced accidents, 21-year-old Jashanpreet Singh was behind the wheel of a heavy truck, and he was also in this country illegally at the time of the accident he caused.
As details were revealed, we learned that he was also allegedly under the influence of drugs while driving.
San Bernardino County District Attorney Jason Anderson stated that this was an accident that never would have happened had our immigration rules been followed.
He added, "Had the rule of law been followed by State and Federal officials, the defendant should have never been in California at all.”
This week, a report surfaced regarding the California Department of Motor Vehicles admitting to issuing 17,000 Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDLs) to migrant drivers.
Duffy responded to the report by saying, “After weeks of claiming they did nothing wrong, Gavin Newsom and California have been caught red-handed. Now that we’ve exposed their lies, 17,000 illegally issued trucking licenses are being revoked.”
“This is just the tip of the iceberg. My team will continue to force California to prove they have removed every illegal immigrant from behind the wheel of semitrucks and school buses," he added.
This is where I would normally provide a response from Newsom, but the governor is at a climate change conference in Brazil, trashing our country and president to anyone who sticks a microphone in his face.
