I have been waiting to see how Republican leadership would respond to the election results on Tuesday night, and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) finally spoke on the situation. Today’s thought was about our economy, and whether, during times such as these, people are having financial issues due to a lack of knowledge about how to manage their money or simply because prices remain so high. Patrick C. from Kentucky responded:
“That Coolidge quote is the absolute truth. It’s not that people forgot how to budget; it’s that you can't budget your way out of systemic inflation. For years, we watched the government hemorrhage money, and now we're paying for it every time we buy groceries or fill up the gas tank."
“The problem isn't that working people don't know how to manage their money; the problem is the government doesn't know how to manage our money.”
Patrick, I agree, but only to an extent. I think it is a combination of both. The government clearly does now know how to manage money, but I think far too many people spend their available funds on nonsense. Thanks for the comment, and keep them coming!
