The government shutdown is nothing but a game for Democrats, of that I am confident.
This is about power, about breaking Republicans and getting the upper hand in Congress and retaking White House.
Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said as much early in the shutdown, and Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) just confirmed it.
When this shutdown started, and I saw the Democrat demands, I stated immediately that they had been planning this move since the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act in 2022. They set Obamacare subsidies and the end of fiscal year 2025 as a safety net in case they lost the 2024 election.
When Schumer said that Democrats had been preparing for this for some time, that theory was confirmed, at least in my opinion.
Schumer also stated, “Every day gets better for us” during that interview. “Us” surely is not the American people or government employees, so Schumer was clearly referring to Democrats and their quest for power.
Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) went nuclear on Schumer and Democrats after that report hit, stating, “They are choosing politics over the paychecks of the American working men and women who protect our nation. And this weakness defines today’s Democrat Party. They’re radical, extreme, dangerous, scary, and they are out of touch.”
California Gov. Gavin Newsom is playing the same game, hoping to position himself for a big win in 2028. He has been replicating just about everything Trump did in 2024, and that continued after the election on Tuesday night.
Democrats had a clean sweep in the biggest elections on the board, so Newsom published a WWE-themed video, photoshopping himself and other Democrats beating up on Trump, with the caption, “Now that’s what we call a takedown.”
All those who pretend to be better people were rubbing everyone’s face in the loss, not to mention doing so in a way that if Trump had done it, it would have created outrage on the left for the violent nature of the video.
Again, though, it proved this is entertainment for them. It was a great chance to extend an olive branch, but they preferred to kick mud in our faces.
This brings us back to Schiff, who clearly thinks this is the Game of Thrones rather than a functional government, demanding that the Democrats “hold firm” because the elections fell in their favor.
He stated, “The president, on his social media tonight, acknowledged that the shutdown is part of the reason Republicans are losing, and it makes sense. They’re controlling everything. They control the White House, the House, and the Senate.”
Schiff continued, “They’ve been unwilling to negotiate with Democrats. And so, I think we need to hold firm, demand changes that make health care affordable for people.”
Again, that is a lie, as there were various offers made to put standalone legislation on the floor, but Democrats rejected every attempt, which is what has led to this standoff. He also said the United States is the “wealthiest country in the world,” which it is not, and it’s not even close. Not to mention the $37 trillion in debt we have, which will only go up higher if Democrats get their way. It is a game, my friends, and we are the pawns.
