Thought of the Day
Common sense… it is something that seems to be lacking in Congress today, and it brought to mind a quote from William F. Buckley Jr.:
"I would rather be governed by the first 2,000 people in the Boston telephone directory than by the 2,000 members of the faculty of Harvard University."
Unfortunately, that is more or less what we have in Congress right now, as the dream of our Founding Fathers, who envisioned local farmers, shopkeepers, and business owners running Congress, has long since been abandoned in favor of career politicians.
We have people running this country, responsible for trillions of taxpayer dollars, who have never operated a business or have any real financial acumen. For example, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) is the ranking member of the House Financial Services Committee, yet she holds a degree in sociology, and she has zero business experience, having gone straight into politics after finishing college. Yet, she is entrusted with overseeing the securities, insurance, banking, and housing sectors? Our Founders are rolling over in their graves right now.
