One of the more influential names in the Trump administration is calling it quits.
Tricia McLaughlin, the primary voice of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), just announced that she is leaving the administration.
Her time in this position was filled with constant battles with the media, so it was no surprise to see the hit pieces flying in as soon as she announced her departure.
DHS has had a rough month, and that means that McLaughlin has been front and center throughout.
I don’t know if all this played a role in her leaving the administration, but she does appear to be leaving on good terms.
For instance, after her departure was announced, Secretary Kristi Noem stated that McLaughlin “has played an instrumental role in advancing our mission to secure the homeland and keep Americans safe.”
McLaughlin has also claimed she and her family have received numerous threats, and I am sure that weighed into this decision.
As soon as I scanned the internet for reactions to McLaughlin’s departure, it was clear that most media outlets have no love for this woman.
For instance, the Bulwark published a “Top 5 Lies” piece on McLaughlin, which started with the DHS narrative that was pushed after Alex Pretti was shot, claiming he was there to “massacre law enforcement.”
It also claimed that McLaughlin lied about Renee Good committing an act of “domestic terrorism.” Perhaps the wording was a bit strong, but I think running a car into a federal agent would fall under that category, even if loosely.
The report also pushed the Democrat talking point that the administration is “focused on getting the worst of the worst out of this country.” You can do two things at once, so I think that is another “lie” we can toss into the trash can regarding that report.
It has already been announced that Katie Zacharia, a conservative lawyer and commentator, will be taking over as the spokesperson for the department.
McLaughlin posted about her replacement on X, calling her “a dynamic and effective voice in media.”
Zacharia has worked for Fox News and Newsmax, and she stated, “I will continue to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again!”
In a recent op-ed, Zacharia called Trump “the greatest president in U.S. history,” so it is a pretty safe assumption that the mainstream media will be looking to pounce the moment she makes any overzealous statements on the dais. Welcome to the administration, Katie, and I hope you have thick skin.
