I have to hand it to Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX).
When she goes all in, she does not back down, even when she knows she is dead wrong.
Crockett just keeps telling lies and spinning the narrative, hoping that something sticks.
When Crockett made her initial -- subsequently debunked -- comments about Republicans supposedly having taken money from disgraced pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, she was defending a fellow Democrat who was caught texting with Epstein during a congressional hearing involving former Donald Trump attorney Michael Cohen.
So, by Crockett saying that people like Lee Zeldin, a former GOP House member, and WinRed, a Republican donor organization, took Epstein money, it was implied that the funds came from convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, but that was not actually the case. The donations came from another man who happend to share the same name.
Crockett was given a chance to back off her allegation during an appearance on CNN shortly after she made her comments, but she claimed not to have deceived anyone because she said it was “a” Jeffrey Epstein.
However, she also admitted that she and her staff never properly vetted the information before she used it. And for some reason, the media never challenged her on it.
When Crockett made her allegations, Zeldin did respond, stating, “Yes Crockett, a physician named Dr. Jeffrey Epstein (who is a totally different person than the other Jeffrey Epstein) donated to a prior campaign of mine.”
In a normal world, Crockett would have owned the mistake and backed off, but that is not her style.
During her CNN interview mentioned above, she had stated, “Listen, I never said that it was that Jeffrey Epstein.”
But again, when taken in context, she was clearly implying that it was the Jeffrey Epstein of Lolita Express fame, and she effectively admitted as much.
This weekend, Crockett appeared on MS NOW’s (formerly MSNBC) The Weekend, hosted by Jacqueline Alemany, where she was called out for having implied that the GOP was taking money from “the” Jeffrey Epstein.
Crockett was asked by Alemany whether she wanted to amend her statement, to which she responded, “I have no amendments.”
When Alemany called her out for misleading people by implying that it was “that” Jeffrey Epstein, Crockett then responded, “Oh, I absolutely was insinuating that it could be possible. That is true. But the point is, I never said that it was that specific one because I did not have the adequate time to do it.”
She continued, “And so the Jeffrey Epstein has stepped forward and that’s not like, you know, a normal name. And I think that what would have been problematic is if I would have claimed that, say, that happened and it legitimately never happened. So ultimately, he cleared the record. I have not researched further. I’ve not talked to this doctor.”
So, she just admitted that she purposely misled the American people and her fellow members of Congress so she could grab a quick headline. That, my friends, is despicable, and I just have to wonder if and when we will ever hold our politicians to the simple standard of telling the truth? Why do we continue to accept this nonsense from them and treat them like celebrities when most of them should be in jail?
