Our “thought” today discussed negative and positive liberty, and our reader comment comes from Carol S. from Jonesboro, Arkansas, who clearly agrees with our thought. She stated:

“This is the most important distinction that people need to understand. The ‘negative liberty’ our Founders championed is the freedom to climb as high as your ambition and hard work will take you."

“The ‘positive liberty’ the Left is selling is the 'freedom' to be a permanent dependent of the state. It's a system that punishes the productive to reward the idle, and in the process, it robs both of their dignity. True liberty is about what you can achieve; their version is about what you can be given.”

I have to say, the responses we received on this were incredible, showing me that our readers are extremely tuned in with the goals of our Founders and our Constitution. Even some of the comments from our liberal readers admitted that this new direction goes against our Founders' goals for this country, but then stated that they would like to see the country go in a different direction.

I can respect their beliefs, but I would have to ask, if you don’t like our Constitution, then why not move to a country that already has your desired system in place, like Russia, China, or maybe Venezuela?
