Today’s thought was inspired by a quote from Sir Edmund Hillary about achievements being more about overcoming ourselves rather than the challenge itself. Today’s comment comes from Stanley T. from Montana, who stated:
“Hillary was right. The mountain is a pile of rocks; it doesn't have a will of its own. The real enemy is always the voice in your head that says ‘it's too cold,’ ‘it's too hard,’ or ‘I'll do it tomorrow.’
“We spend so much time fighting external battles—politics, the economy, the culture war—but the hardest war is the one against our own laziness and fear. If you can conquer the person in the mirror, the rest of the world is easy.”
