In our last report, we covered how House Minority Leader Jeffries is pushing bogus narratives and was called by CNN’s Dana Bash.
Something similar just took place with Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA).
Even though the American people overwhelmingly supported voter ID laws, Schiff, like the rest of his party, claims that it is suppressing the vote.
The hypocrisy is just dripping from the mouth of Sen. Schiff, especially when you consider that Democrats are doing everything they possibly can to block people from having to prove who they are with a simple ID.
According to Schiff, even though Trump is not running for office, he will try to rig the elections, stating, “I think he fully intends to try to subvert the elections. He will do everything he can to suppress the vote. And if he loses the vote, and I think the Republican does now expect they’ll get a real drubbing in the midterms.”
He continued, “He’s prepared to try to take some kind of action to overturn the result, and we really shouldn’t question that. We saw him try to the point of insurrection to overturn the 2020 election.”
I have stated many times I don’t support gerrymandering, but both sides are doing it (not that it makes it right; that is just a fact). But other than that, the only thing Trump is truly calling for is voter ID laws to ensure the people who are pulling the lever are, in fact, registered American citizens.
Schiff ripped the effort to have the SAVE Act passed, claiming, “It’s still going to be something that disenfranchises people that don’t have the proper real ID, driver’s license ID, that don’t have the ID necessary to vote, even though they are citizens. This is another way to simply try to suppress the vote.”
He continued, “And the last thing I think we want to do is discourage more people, more citizens, from voting while they’re attacking those same elections, while they’re trying to do away with absentee ballot voting, while they’re trying to do away with being able to register to vote through the DMV or by the mail. So it’s part of the broader disenfranchisement effort. And no, I don’t think that’s the right direction.”
So, think about his problem… he is upset that the GOP wants to stop automatically registering voters through the DMV, yet he claims people don’t have an ID. Why is the media not picking up on this?
Furthermore, let’s just give away driver’s licenses and state IDs and be done with it. We blow billions on ridiculous programs, but this would be something to benefit every American. Why won’t Dems ever back that idea? Because then they don’t get to say minorities don’t have IDs and voter ID laws are racist. What about putting up portable ID stations at polling stations? It cannot be all that difficult to do.
ABC's Jonathan Karl went after Schiff on this, but I want to address something Schiff said first, saying he has no idea where people would find their birth certificate if they need it. Well, you simply go online and request it or head to City Hall and get a new copy of it if you don’t already have it.
After Schiff’s rant about people not having passports and their birth certificates, Karl hit back, stating, "But I was asking you a different question: photo ID. Because, as you know, let's show there was a recent poll, there's been a lot of polls on this, but in one recent Pew poll, 83% of adults support requiring photo ID to vote. Seventy-one percent of Democrats favor requiring photo ID. Is that something that you can support? And if not, why?"
Schiff responded, "It's still going to be something that disenfranchises people that don't have the proper Real ID, driver's license ID, that don't have the ID necessary to vote, even though they are citizens. This is another way to simply try to suppress the vote.”
How is it disenfranchising people when 83% of the country supports it? Show me one other policy in all of government that has that kind of support. Dems want election issues, which is why they will never back formal voter ID laws. More journalists need to come down on Dems like Karl just did, and even harder. This is a no-brainer, yet Democrats are doing the opposite of what their constituents are asking them to do. You really do have to wonder why.
