Today’s question was about Gov. Gavin Newsom, his obsession with Trump, and his chances of beating JD Vance if they wind up squaring off in the 2028 election. Today’s comment comes from Victor S. in Nevada, who stated:
“Newsom isn't just obsessed; he is auditioning. Every attack on Trump is a campaign ad for 2028. As for a matchup against JD Vance? Vance has the intellect and the grit to wipe the floor with him in a debate. But we need to be very careful not to get cocky."
“Conservatives have a habit of looking at California's failures and assuming Newsom is unelectable. That is a dangerous mistake. He is a slick operator with a massive war chest and a media that will cover for him. We can win with Vance, but only if we fight for every vote and stop assuming Newsom's record will defeat itself.”
I agree, Victor. Democrats tend to vote on the letter that follows the candidate's name, while conservatives tend to look more at the big picture. Point being, Democrats will rally behind Newsom regardless of his record, but people who don’t like the current president may not vote for Vance simply because he was Trump’s VP. We cannot let our guard down in what is becoming a monumentally important election.
