Post of the Night

I think AOC was trying to make her case about how important funding massive entitlement programs is for people, but honestly, I think she made our case that far too many rely far too much on the federal government. If her numbers are accurate, the average American household is getting about $700 per month from the government through just these two programs.

Now, I don’t get anything from either program, and I would imagine most of our readers are in the same boat, so how do you feel about the government sending out all that money now? Click here to respond.

Today’s thought was about the GOP standing up against healthcare subsidies, saying that enough is enough. I asked readers if they thought Barack Obama and Democrats were trying to sabotage our healthcare system to move toward single-payer back when Obamacare was put into play, or if they thought that the concept was truly a workable one. Our comment today comes from Betty R. from Mississippi, who responded:

“Buckley was 100% right, and that's exactly what the GOP is doing—they're the only ones left with the courage to yell 'Stop!' To answer your question: 'successful'? That's laughable. It was never designed to be successful for the American people."

“It was a Trojan horse from the beginning. Obama and the Democrats knew it would fail, and they were counting on that failure to corner us into demanding the 'solution' they always wanted: a complete government takeover of healthcare.”

Great answer, Betty, and we are more or less on the same page here. But again, the problem is that the GOP has never presented a plausible alternative. The good news is that if Republicans can do that now, we have a real chance of ending Obamacare and getting health insurance premiums back to some realistic numbers.
