Today was a more lighthearted thought, asking how people felt about keeping the Halloween holiday tradition alive, considering how many bad actors there are out there today, and how things are becoming more dangerous for children. We asked our readers what they thought about the holiday, and the opinions were overwhelmingly in favor of keeping trick-or-treating a tradition. Erika S. from Kansas responded:
“Of course it's a tradition worth keeping! We can't let the existence of a few evil people destroy a night of joy and community for millions of children. That's letting the bad guys win."
“I went trick-or-treating, my kids went, and now my grandkids go. We just go with them and check the candy, like parents have done for decades. The world has always had dangers; we don't overcome them by canceling our traditions and living in fear.”
I happen to agree. This has always been a fun holiday, but it is up to us to be extra vigilant to make sure our children can still enjoy it. Happy Halloween, everyone!
