As we noted in a report in our afternoon newsletter, California Gov. Gavin Newsom is trying to copy Trump’s 2024 game plan to position himself for the 2028 presidential election. As part of that, Newsom has been begging Joe Rogan for an invite to appear on his podcast, but he just gave up. But, there now appears to be a new strategy in having influencers call out Rogan to pressure him to have Newsom on his show…

My “thought” today was really more of a question, asking our readers how they felt about Trump’s approach to gaining respect on the world stage, and whether he was pressing too hard with tariffs, his war on drugs, and the like. Matthew K. from Wyoming had the response of the day, stating:

“Pressing too hard? After what we've witnessed for the last several years, he's not pressing hard enough. For too long, this country was led by people who apologized for our strength and let other nations walk all over us."

“The rest of the world doesn't respect weakness; they respect power and resolve. Trump is finally wielding that ‘big stick,’ and it's about time. This is exactly what's needed to put America back on top where it belongs.”

I am with you on this one, Matthew, as, for the most part, I like what Trump is doing. The only thing I would like to see differently is some of the drama and public in-party squabbling to be alleviated. Have those conversations behind closed doors and present a united front.
