Every time ICE makes an arrest, it seems as though mainstream media outlets creatively edit the facts.
It happened again regarding the arrest of 42-year-old Gerardo Rojas-Leyva in San Jose, who was detained after leaving his home to head to work.
As we have seen in other cases, ICE agents were vilified by the press, but DHS Secretary Kristi Noem is intent on setting the record straight.
As an example, NBC Bay Area reported, “The family told NBC Bay Area federal agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested an undocumented father outside his home, identified as 42-year-old Gerardo, as the family and neighbors took video.”
The report continued, “According to the family’s Ring video, Gerardo was in his black truck at 7:45 a.m., about to head out to his construction job when multiple people, who appear to be federal officers, approached his truck and yelled for him to get out.”
His wife said that another woman, who was not in uniform, struck her 22-year-old daughter with a baton, only that was not shown in the Ring footage, so that claim is currently unverified.
There was literally nothing in the report that mentioned any criminal history of Rojas-Leyva.
Noem’s representatives immediately responded to the report, stating, "Of course @NBCNews refuses to tell the American public that this illegal alien from Mexico has a rap sheet that includes: lewd and lascivious acts with a CHILD, battery of a spouse, domestic battery, compensation for prostitution, felony reentry after removal.”
The rebuttal, as you saw, offered up a laundry list of alleged criminal activity of the man, so he was no saint.
DHS further stated, "Rojas-Leyva’s criminal history includes lewd and lascivious acts with child of 14-15 years old, battery of a spouse, inflicting corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant, and proving compensation for prostitution. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, if you break the law, you will face the consequences. Criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the U.S."
This, to me, is everything that is wrong with the mainstream media today, as it is far more obsessed with being first on a story than it is with giving a complete picture of what took place.
It goes without saying that this is far from the first time we have seen a story like this.
For instance, one of the most polarizing immigration cases in the news today is that of Kilmar Abrego-Garcia, whom the media had initially painted simply as a “Maryland man” who was being deported for no reason by ICE.
As it turns out, he is not only an illegal immigrant, but he is now facing charges related to gang and cartel activity, as well as human trafficking.
Even now, however, the administration is facing resistance from Democrat-appointed judges to deport him, and he remains a poster child for the left.
