This week, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker was on Fox News with Bret Baier, and while Baier hit Pritzker with a tough question, he allowed the governor to squirm out of it with nothing but lies, claiming that the murder rate in Chicago has been cut in half over the last four years, which is an outright falsehood.

In 2019, the murder rate in Chicago was 18.8:100,000; then it ballooned to 28.4:100,000 in 2020, and it now stands at around 17:100,000. No matter how you slice it, it has not been cut in half. Also, his claim that the rate has declined by double digits is wrong. Since 2020, the murder rate has declined by no more than a maximum of four points in any given year. Today’s “thought” was a pushback on Democrats' outrage over Trump calling out some of our allies and trading partners. In my opinion, they are only our true allies if they are not trying to take advantage of us, and the United States has been on the wrong end of deals many times due to a weak presence in the White House.
