Post of the Day
While Democrats have blocked funding legislation that would have kept the government open, there were some cracks, including Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA). Three Dems have already betrayed Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, so the GOP only needs five more Democrats to fold, and the government can be reopened.

Thought of the Day
With the government shutdown top of mind, I cannot help but address some of the Democrats' sticking points, including their push for more freebies. Benjamin Franklin once stated:
"I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it."
I agree with him completely. Entitlement programs in this country make poverty far too easy, and that includes giving away medical benefits. Democrats fail to understand that by implementing work requirements in exchange for entitlement benefits, we can provide training and incentives for recipients to leave these programs and support their families independently, rather than relying on the government to pay their bills.
Have you seen this?

- Flag fury. Former Dallas Cowboys QB Troy Aikman ripped officials on Monday Night Football for their shower of penalty flags, calling the situation “ridiculous.” I get his frustration and cannot stand seeing the game slowed down, but is it still not up to the players to play a cleaner game?
