A little break from all of the political stuff, as I could not resist this post about my city in Texas. When I lived on the East Coast, we would get two feet of snow, and it was business as usual, so this post is not exaggerating one bit…
Today’s thought used a quote from the late Justice Antonin Scalia, as well as asking our readers if they thought the judiciary was tainted today. Our comment today comes from Douglas F. from Nebraska, who stated:
“Scalia was the last of a dying breed. He understood that the Constitution is a contract, not a suggestion box. The problem we have today is that too many judges decide on the verdict they want first, and then work backward to twist the law to fit it. That is why we see these nationwide injunctions and rulings that split perfectly along party lines.
“They aren't interpreting the law; they are legislating from the bench because they know they couldn't get those ideas passed through Congress. We need more judges who respect the text and fewer who respect their own feelings.”
I agree, and I don’t think we will ever see another justice like Justice Scalia. He was truly the last of a breed.
