For four years, we watched then-President Joe Biden deteriorate before our eyes, and Democrats insisted he was as sharp as the best knife in your kitchen drawer.
The GOP was on the attack most of the second half of Biden’s presidency, suggesting that he needed to be removed from office via the 25th Amendment to the Constitution.
Surprise… that is now the plan of attack Democrats are using against President Donald Trump, with Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) leading the charge.
While the last two years of Biden’s term saw Republicans regularly challenge whether Biden was mentally deteriorating, it was after the disastrous June 2024 debate that the narrative really kicked in.
Biden stared into the camera blankly, uttered pure gibberish, and often seemed confused on stage.
Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) demanded that Biden be removed for the sake of the security of our nation, and I agreed.
He stated, "Joe Biden has decided he isn’t capable of being a candidate; in so doing his admission also means he cannot serve as President. Therefore, it is in the best immediate interest of the safety of the United States for Joe Biden to resign from office or face removal under the 25th Amendment."
There have been a number of Trump administration firings in recent days that have Democrats up in arms, but one in particular got under their skin, that being the removal of Lisa Cook as governor at the Federal Reserve.
Cook has been referred to the Justice Department for alleged mortgage fraud, which is a very serious crime when you consider the position she holds.
After Trump announced her removal, Cook’s legal team responded, "President Trump has no authority to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook.”
Technically, that may be correct, but when you consider the nature of the alleged crime, if an indictment comes down, and she is convicted, I think Trump can test the waters here in terms of his authority to remove a corrupt official. I think even a grand jury indictment would be enough to have her removed.
Democrats always fail to recognize the possibility that one of their own is in the wrong, and that is what is happening again. Waters is pushing the narrative that Trump is off his rocker, not even considering any potential wrongdoing by Cook. Waters stated, "It is time to call for Article [Amendment] 25 of the Constitution of the United States of America to determine his unfitness, to determine that something’s wrong with this president.”
She continued, “And I would suggest that we move very aggressively to talk about the danger to this country and to our democracy and not play around with this because this is absolutely one of the most destructive things that this president could do.”
Waters concluded, "This stands to basically upend the entire economy. This stands to really deal with what is going to happen on Wall Street, what’s going to happen with interest rates, what’s going to happen with the president of the United States being able to make decisions that he will personally benefit from.”
I will concede that Trump likely jumped the gun here, as we at least need to see an indictment. However, if that indictment comes down from a grand jury, I think Trump should roll the dice and litigate this.
