The gubernatorial race in California is really starting to get interesting.
After Gavin Newsom was elected for a second term and Kamala Harris was initially installed as the favorite, I never thought a GOP candidate would have a chance.
After the first debate, however, I am starting to get hopeful.
Everyone just assumed that Kamala Harris would be running for governor after she lost the presidential election, but she went a different route.
Now, every sign points to Harris making another run for the presidency in 2028, but she will have some stiff competition in the golden boy, Gavin Newsom. He has destroyed that state, but they love him for some reason.
With Harris out of the race, former Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) was installed as the favorite, but she wound up being her own worst enemy.
Porter had a meltdown in two different videos, then the floodgates opened, leading to panic in the Democrat Party, which led to Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) jumping into the race
With Porter sinking, failed presidential candidate and current Democrat House member Eric Swalwell decided to make a run, and he immediately rose to the top of polling for Democrats.
However, Steve Hilton is still in the overall lead.
In the most recent poll by FM3 Research, Hilton was holding at 18%, Swalwell at 17%, and Porter is now down to 4th place at 13%, behind Republican Bianco (17%).
The next closest candidate is a Democrat at 3%, but there are a ton of undecided voters, so this is very much still an open race in terms of which party can wind up winning.
On a very crowded stage, viewers picked Steve Hilton as the winner of the debate, which is monstrous in terms of getting those undecided voters.
After Hilton found out the viewers gave him the highest marks, he responded, “I won the debate because I told the truth about the total disaster of 16 years of Democrat one-party rule, the fraud, the waste, the corruption, and the cost of living that sky-high for regular working Californians.”
Hilton not only won, but he also dominated, winning more than 50% of viewers' approval, with the rest of the field getting small pieces.
I watched some of the debate, and Hilton hit the nail on the head in that all the Democrats sounded the same, and they are saying the same things they have been saying since 2016. Perhaps the woke state is finally waking up.
