I think it is safe to say that most of us believe that JD Vance is the GOP's likely presidential nominee for 2028.
The vice president just addressed all of that speculation, however, saying nothing will be given to him on a silver platter.
Vance also issued a pretty stern warning about the 2026 election, and I think he hit the nail on the head.
MAGA likely makes up about 30-40% of the entire Republican base, so it is no surprise to see the perceived heir apparent, Vance, dominating polling right now.
In the latest national poll, Vance was up by 41 points, a staggering lead.
In the overall national average. Vance holds 48.8% of the vote, with Donald Trump Jr. in second at 12.1%, followed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 8.9%, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio making a massive surge, up to 8.2%.
I have stated before that I think DeSantis would be a fool to run in 2028, regardless of how the Trump presidency winds up. His only chance, at this point, would be if the GOP loses the 2028 election, and voters decide they are ready to move away from a MAGA candidate.
Vance is a skilled orator, and he knows that he cannot get cocky about the 2028 nod even though he knows that the moment Trump anoints him, it will be a done deal.
So, he continues to display modesty, stating, "If we do a good job in 2025 and 2026, then we can talk about the politics in 2027. I really think the American people are so fed up with folks who are already running for the next job, seven months into the current one."
Vance continued, "There are a lot of great people. If I do end up running, it's not going to be given to me -- either on the Republican side or on the national side. I'm just going to keep on working hard.… [This] may be the most important job I ever had, outside of being a father to those three beautiful kids. So I'm going to try to do my best job, and I think if I do that, the politics will figure itself out."
Nobody is going to touch Vance in that election. Even this far out, something astronomically bad would have to happen for him to lose his lead in that race. He may remain coy about his chances, but the fact of the matter is that this particular race was over before it ever got started the moment Trump named Vance as his VP.
I have given the historical background on midterm elections after a party change many times on these pages, so you should know that the chances of the GOP holding the House in 2026 are very thin.
It will be made far more difficult because Democrats are getting voters motivated by doing what Trump did during his 2016 run… sparking their anger. Vance warned, "You’ve got the far-left fanatics… they’re very angry right now, and they’re very motivated.”
The VP later added, "If you want to give the government over to people who are defending murderers on the streets of D.C., then don't vote. But if you actually want to continue to secure the southern border and combat this inflation problem, you've got to get out there and vote and give us that ability to continue accomplishing great things for the American people.”
The problem here is that were are not only fighting the Democrats but also the media. Today’s mainstream outlets operate like another arm of the Democrat Party, generally pushing liberal talking points and covering stories in a biased fashion to outrage people over the GOP and the bad orange man. If we are not vigilant, every bit of momentum that Trump has will be immediately halted, as Democrats will turn 2026 into 2018, raising obstacles and impeachments designed to stop the president in his tracks.
