This one goes into the “what is he thinking” book.
Earlier this year, Donald Trump announced that he had created a “Presidential Walk of Fame” that featured portraits of all the former presidents except for Joe Biden. Where Biden’s photo should have been, there was a picture of the autopen.
Trump has since enhanced the Walk of Fame, adding plaques under each president, with Trump unloading on both Barack Obama and Biden.
I actually liked the idea of the Walk of Fame, having a portrait of every man, good or bad, who served in the country’s highest office.
It quickly became apparent, however, that the walk was really the ultimate troll of Joe Biden.
Biden’s autopen photo was in reference to the growing scandal that is now being investigated, specifically for the mass pardons and executive orders issued during Biden’s waning days in office.
I may have the minority opinion on this one, but I just thought it was childish and silly. And again, I always use the measuring stick of how we would feel if Democrats were doing something like this, perhaps replacing Trump’s photo with a photo of Trump and Epstein, or one of the memes of Trump and Putin.
Trump has now added to the Walk of Fame by installing plaques to give a summary of each presidency.
One of the plaques under Biden’s photo says, "Sleepy Joe Biden was, by far, the worst President in American History. Biden oversaw a series of unprecedented disasters that brought our Nation to the brink of destruction. His policies caused the highest Inflation ever recorded, leading the U.S. Dollar to lose more than 20% of its value in 4 years."
One of the plaques under Obama reads, "As President, he passed the highly ineffective 'Unaffordable' Care Act, resulting in his party losing control of both Houses of Congress, and the Election of the largest House Republican majority since 1946.”
You get the idea. This was like Trump framing a Truth Social rant about Obama and Biden.
Trump immediately came under fire from Democrats for doing this. For instance, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) responded, “He is such a sad, damaged person.”
Rep. Mike Levin (D-CA) wrote, “It will be a great day for this country when the next President clears away these ridiculous plaques, removes the tacky gold cluttering the Oval Office, and restores dignity and honesty after an era marked by pettiness and vindictiveness at the highest level of government.”
I understand some people will think I am making too much of this, but this truly is about the shoe being on the other foot. This is all going to come back on Trump, yet the people who are laughing about this now will be the ones screaming the loudest when Dems get their revenge.
At some point, the adults in the room need to step up. I just don't see the point or the payoff from doing this.
