Democrats are up to their old tricks again, reneging on deals and blocking as many of Donald Trump’s appointments as possible.
According to reports, Senate Majority Leader Thune (R-SD) had worked out an agreement to push through some of the less controversial nominees for Trump, but the deal fell apart at the last second.
As one would expect, Trump went nuclear, and he continues to hammer Democrats for the tactic.
With Dems playing games, Thune is now looking to change the rules on how nominees are moved through the Senate.
He stated, “We may need to look at doing things differently on nominees generally if the Democrats continue on this path of obstruction that they’re on right now.” He further stated that this is a movement with growing support in the GOP Senate caucus.
Schumer has justified his conduct by stating that Trump has put forward “historically bad nominees deserved historic levels of scrutiny.”
We know there will be resistance to some of the more controversial nominees, but there are plenty of people who are fully qualified who should be approved without issue. This is just Democrats playing games, and it has Trump extremely frustrated.
Trump was not happy when word came down that the Democrats were going back on deals and blocking all of his nominees.
Trump went off on Truth Social, "This demand is egregious and unprecedented, and would be embarrassing to the Republican Party if it were accepted. It is political extortion, by any other name."
The president then added, "Tell Schumer, who is under tremendous political pressure from within his own party, the Radical Left Lunatics, to GO TO HE**!"
He continued, "Do not accept the offer. Go home and explain to your constituents what bad people the Democrats are, and what a great job the Republicans are doing, and have done, for our Country. Have a great RECESS and, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!"
Dems are clearly using this to try to ram through some of their funding wishes, and Trump is livid over it.
He stated, "Democrats, lead[sic] by Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, are slow walking my Nominees, more than 150 of them. They wanted us to pay, originally, two billion dollars for approvals. The Dems are CRAZED LUNATICS!!!"
Thune again backed the idea of changing the rules, stating, "I think they’re desperately in need of change. I think that the last six months have demonstrated that this process, nominations is broken. And so I expect there will be some good robust conversations about that."
If Dems keep playing these games, there are going to be some major changes to the rules, which will only create more outrage on the leftward side of the aisle. Democrats are forcing the GOP’s hand, but then they will cry about the supposed excesses of an authoritarian regime.
