We have all seen the attacks against ICE agents over the last few months.
Trump is now trying to de-escalate the situation, but not before taking another shot at Democrats.
The president now says that blue states will have to ask for help from DHS for protesters, and to quote Col. Jessep, they have to ask him nicely.
After all the fraud was revealed in Minnesota, DHS dropped the hammer on the state and started to apply pressure to Governor Tim Walz.
Walz immediately started to complain about the added presence, then he really turned up the heat after Renee Good was shot and killed by agents.
Just as things started to calm down from her death, Alex Pretti was shot and killed, and then the venom really started to fly.
Walz then demanded that Trump remove ICE from the state, telling him, “What’s the plan, Donald Trump? What do we need to do to get these federal agents out of our state? President Trump, you can end this today. Pull these folks back; do humane, focused, effective immigration control – you’ve got the support of all of us to do that. Please show some decency. Pull these folks out.”
The next move by Democrats was to renege on the spending bill, once again threatening a shutdown if Trump did not remove ICE from Minnesota.
The bill had already passed the House, but the Senate did not take it up until after the shootings, giving Democrats leverage.
The Senate was going to redo the spending bill, but Dems said they would not fund DHS, and they wanted ICE disbanded.
Crafting new legislation also meant that the bill would have to go back to the House, where House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) was already saying that he would not support the legislation. So, all he needed was a couple of Republicans to vote with Dems, and the legislation would be stalled.
Trump is now pulling all federal agents out of Democrat cities in terms of providing assistance with riots and protests, requiring city and state leaders to ask for help. He posted to Truth Social, “I have instructed Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, that under no circumstances are we going to participate in various poorly run Democrat Cities with regard to their Protests and/or Riots unless, and until, they ask us for help.”
Trump continued, “We will, however, guard, and very powerfully so, any and all Federal Buildings that are being attacked by these highly paid Lunatics, Agitators, and Insurrectionists. Please be aware that I have instructed ICE and/or Border Patrol to be very forceful in this protection of Federal Government Property.”
I have to admit, I am not against this tactic by Trump. And I would also note that people seem to be forgetting one question… how did we get here? Were it not for Joe Biden opening up the borders and blue states embracing sanctuary status, ICE would not have to come to these cities in the first place.
And let’s also remember that the American people voted for this immigration crackdown. Trump never hid his intentions on this front, so spare me the faux outrage now that he is delivering on his promise.
