For years, Donald Trump and his surrogates have been talking about the importance of releasing the Epstein files.
Several years ago, Dan Bongino pushed a major narrative about Bill Clinton and his supposed activities with the disgraced billionaire financier.
Now, Trump and those around him are saying that there is no client list to be released, something which has created outrage among MAGA supporters, and the Dems have pounced after years of sitting on their hands over these files.
As I have stated before, this is an issue that was created by the very people who are now downplaying the Epstein files, and Americans in general are not happy about it.
For whatever reason, everyone wants to know what was really in those files, and after years of Trump and his surrogates saying the files would be released, in full, they are now only willing to release limited information and downplaying the client list debacle.
A recent Quinnipiac poll on the subject dropped some bad news in Trump’s lap, with 63% of those surveyed saying they do not approve of how the administration is handling the situation.
This is not good news for Trump, and amid what should be a very positive news cycle, he is taking massive hits over these files.
While Trump is hoping to get this issue to die down, clearly hoping for GOP support for that position, that is not what is happening.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) is now asking for the release and full transparency of the files.
He stated, “At some point, there is going to have to be a resolution."
Thune added, “We’re all interested in making sure that justice is served and that there is full disclosure and there’s transparency around this.”
Given the rumored connection between Epstein and Bill Clinton, Democrats have sat on their hands for years over this, but that is changing with speculation that Trump is possibly trying to kill these files because he is implicated in them.
Again, that is pure speculation, but that is all Democrats need these days to go after Trump. To that point, House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) stated, “For reasons known only to him, Donald Trump is now refusing to appoint a special prosecutor in the Epstein case after weeks of refusing to release the Epstein files."
She went on, “This week, House Democrats voted unanimously to release the files. Republicans voted to keep them hidden. With deep respect for the victims, their trauma and their privacy, everyone on the Epstein list must be held accountable no matter who they are. Release the files.”
This, in my opinion, has all been a major mistake by Trump, especially his suggestion that Former FBI Director James Comey and former President Barack Obama created the files, as it now sounds like his trying to cover something up. Again, I don’t necessarily believe that Trump is implicated in the materials, but I do believe that there are enough big names on both sides of the aisle that the decision was made to trash them rather than expose them to protect these people. Releasing select files, as Trump is now suggesting, only makes this worse. For any release to be taken seriously, we need to see all the files and let the American people decide what is real and what is not. We don’t need the government to make those choices for us. This is something that is not going to go away, clearly, no matter what Trump says at this point.
