Trump lashes out at former GA Lt. Governor

Former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan made headlines this week by announcing that he was going to join the Democrat Party.

For the most part, this is because of Donald Trump, whom he fought tooth and nail against.

We covered his departure yesterday, but Trump has now spoken on the move, and let’s just say Trump did not take kindly to the departure.

No love lost

The fracture goes back to Trump placing a call to Secretary of State Raffensberger to find nearly 12,000 votes to flip the state.

As we noted yesterday, this was interpreted by one side as Trump ordering Raffensberger to rig the election, and by the other side as Trump ordering an investigation to ensure the votes were properly counted and legitimate.

Duncan was the former, having stated, “But quite honestly, [Trump] would be the biggest mistake our party's ever made, is to lift him up as the nominee, for two reasons - one, because I do believe he would be beat by the other the other party.

He continued, “But secondly, even if he was to somehow figure out a way to be a president again, it would be a disaster for this country and, I would argue, a disaster for the world for somebody that is this small-minded to have that much control.”

I’m out

This week, Duncan announced he was registering as a Democrat.

He announced, "My journey to becoming a Democrat started well before Donald Trump tried to steal the 2020 election in Georgia.”

He continued, "There’s no date on a calendar or line in the sand that points to the exact moment in time my political heart changed, but it has. My decision was centered around my daily struggle to love my neighbor, as a Republican."

That was not exactly honest, as he had made it quite clear in the past that Donald Trump was the source of this fracture, at least in my opinion. I believe he worded his announcement specifically so as not to draw the ire of Donald Trump, but it did not work.

Trump responds

After Duncan’s departure went viral, it was only a matter of time before Trump went after him.

He did early this morning, posting, “Failed former Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan, of Georgia, is a total loser. Was never able to get anything done, all he ever did was complain.”

Trump continued, “We didn’t want him in the Republican Party any longer, so I’m told he became a Democrat. Good riddance Geoff. You don’t even have a chance!!!”

This is a pretty typical Trump reaction to this type of news, but Duncan may have actually done Trump a favor. Trump has taken a few hits in the media, and he needed something to distract away from those stories. The Duncan departure and renewed feud with Trump may distract the media long enough for Trump and his team to come up with a strategy on how to end the Epstein drama.
