Conservatives in this country, more specifically in New York City, have a big decision to make.
Do they rally around one candidate who is not a conservative in order to beat Democrat socialist Zohran Mamdani, or do they allow liberals to hand the city over to him?
Donald Trump Jr. appears to have made up his mind, which means MAGA is likely to follow.
Like most people, when former Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that he was entering the mayoral race, I thought it was a done deal.
On the eve of the election, Democrats brought in all the heavyweights to endorse him, and the election seemed like a formality.
Well, when the handles were pulled, and the votes were tallied, Mamdani won, and it was not even close.
Suddenly, this socialist became a nationwide sensation, with all eyes on New York City.
Cuomo was down, but not out, as the former governor announced that he would run as an independent.
Mayor Eric Adams was also running as an independent, and the Republican candidate, Curtis Sliwa, ran unopposed, as the GOP never really took this race seriously.
All three insist that they will remain in this race until the end, which is more or less going to hand Mamdani the keys to the Gracie Mansion.
While Mamdani took a small hit in support after Cuomo announced, he is now leading in every possible scenario, dominating a multi-candidate race and beating Cuomo handily if Adams and Sliwa drop out. Not to see this as a done deal, as we are still three months away, but Mamdani’s victory seems imminent at this point.
I have been torn about this from the start, thinking that maybe people need to learn a lesson about socialism, so perhaps Mamdani winning would not be the worst thing. But then I thought again, thinking if we can really afford to allow a major American city to be taken over by a lunatic socialist who wants to turn the entire place into one big commune and have the government take over every aspect of their lives.
Trump Jr. seems to support the former, stating, “Mamdani, if he wins, he’s going to be great for the rest of the country in the future because New York City is going to go through some really hard times, and people are going to stop playing with this ridiculous experiment of communism and socialism that has not worked anywhere else in the world.”
He then stated, “This is really sad for actual New Yorkers and middle-class New Yorkers… the wealthiest people, they can move very easily. They can work from wherever. They are the vast majority of the tax base that funds all of these subsidy programs in New York City. You lose 10 to 15,000 of those ultra-high net worth individuals, this city is in serious trouble, and no amount of free stuff being promised is going to actually help it.”
This is a dangerous experiment, but ultimately, we are all powerless to stop it, because it is New Yorkers who have the only votes that matter. But the rest of the country will clearly be paying attention. I would say this, however… Donald Trump, when Mandani bankrupts that city with his socialist programs, don’t you dare bail him out with our taxpayer dollars.
