It looks like Donald Trump Jr. is going to give it another go.
After his divorce, Trump Jr. was on the verge of marrying former Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle, but they eventually split, with the first son moving on to date Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson..
While news of the couple's comings and goings has been relatively quiet, things must be going well between the two, because Donnie Jr. just got engaged.
There were a lot of rumors flying around about Guilfoyle and Trump Jr. having broken up long before their parting was made public.
Guilfoyle is nearly 10 years older than Trump Jr., and their relationship seemed to have run its course, as the couple had been seen together less and less in the months leading up to the breakup.
Then pictures surfaced of Trump Jr. out and about with Anderson, and the Guilfoyle breakup news was made official soon thereafter.
The breakup was “not contentious,” however, with the pairing simply described as having run its course. Guilfoyle was even nominated as an ambassador in Trump’s current administration, likely as a thank you for all the work she had done to try to get the president elected to a second term.
While Guilfoyle was very popular with the Trump family, the first reports about Anderson were less than flattering.
Not long after the dating rumors were confirmed, a family insider stated, “Individuals close to the president have expressed growing concerns about the potential liability posed by his son’s new relationship.”
Another friend of the family reportedly warned Trump Jr. that Anderson had a long history of dating wealthy men and partying hard, something that would not sit well with his father, who does not drink at all.
While reports at the time had warned Trump Jr. against bringing Anderson to his father’s inauguration, she did attend, and the event was more or less considered the couple's official coming out.
Trump Jr. just decided to pop the question, announcing their engagement during the White House Christmas reception on Monday night.
President Trump invited his son up to say a few words in honor of the upcoming nuptials, but Jr. was a bit tongue-tied, responding, “Not often that I’m at a loss for words, because we usually do the ranting and raving really well, but this is a little different.”
Anderson added, “This has really been the most unforgettable weekend of my life, and I get to marry the love of my life, and I feel just like the luckiest girl in the world.”
With the engagement having just been announced, there has been no information regarding a possible wedding date or location. However, it would not surprise me one bit to see Trump use the new White House ballroom for the event if he can have it done before he leaves the White House. In fact, I would not be surprised if Trump Jr.’s wedding was the inaugural event for the new structure. Perhaps that is why Trump recently announced that he expected the work to be done in about 18 months.
