On Wednesday night, Donald Trump addressed the nation.
He embellished some numbers, but most presidents do that when they deliver these types of addresses. However, things are always made worse when Trump does it, which is why I wish he would just tell the truth.
One number that could not be denied, however, was the one on inflation, and most of the mainstream media are simply ignoring the story.
Trump vowed to get inflation numbers back down, and he has delivered.
Inflation only rose 2.7% from last year’s numbers, far lower than the 3.1% that most experts had predicted.
Trump stated, “Very simple, we are making America great again tonight. After 11 months, our border is secure. Inflation is stopped. Wages are up. Prices are down.”
Wages have outpaced inflation so far, but not all prices are down. Trump never should have made his “day one” promise, as this was going to take some time to fix, as I stated when he took office. Having said that, we are seeing relief in some key areas.
As my regular readers know, I believe everything follows the price of gasoline due to the costs of shipping, and we are expected to see some real relief there as well.
GasBuddy has projected that the price of gasoline will be the lowest we have seen in five years, or basically since Trump left office.
The average price of gasoline in the nation is expected to drop to $2.79 per gallon, which is just amazing news and a sign of really good things to come.
This is why it is so frustrating for me when Trump just starts making up his own facts to enhance his claim. The real numbers are more than enough to prove that what he is doing is working. It may not be as fast as some people want, but it is working.
Harvard economist Ken Rogoff was on CNN this week, and even he could not deny the numbers were good for Trump, stating, "There's no other way to spin it.”
The fact that he even brought up the word "spin" tells you all you need to know, but as he stated, there was nothing but good news here, which is why you are not likely to see it reported on other channels. Rogoff added, "I was surprised, it was a better number than anyone was expecting. Look, inflation’s been very high. It’s stayed high. It has not been coming down.”
I know I am hard on Trump, but that is because he does utterly ridiculous things at times that take away from the success of his policies, such as his comments on the murder of Reiners and the childish plaques on the Presidential Wall of Fame.
If Trump just stuck to policy, he would be crushing it right now. All these other things distract from what he is doing, and they stand to hurt the party in the upcoming cycle. I just wish Trump could see that and stay focused on policy over trolling.
