MAGA is not happy with Donald Trump’s excuses and defense of Attorney General Pam Bondi over the non-release of an Epstein client list.
While MAGA wants Bondi's head on a platter, Trump is still leaving the ball in the AG's court.
It would also appear that Trump may have made matters worse with a bizarre comment about the controversial files.
A reporter recently asked Trump if the reason the files were buried was because he was implicated in them, as Elon Musk had suggested amid his rifgt with the president.
Trump insisted he was not, then added, “And I would say that, you know, these files were made up by Comey, they were made up by Obama, they were made up by the Biden [administration]."
The president added, “And we went through years of that with the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax, with all of the different things that we had to go through.”
I am not sure that reasoning will help his case, as he is literally creating a new conspiracy about the files when everyone is quite aware of Epstein's reputed conduct and his relationships with powerful socialites and politicians.
Trump followed that up by saying the final call regarding Epstein-related materials will be in Bondi’s hands.
He stated, “Anything that’s credible, I would say, let them have it."
He then added, “She’s handled it very well. And it’s going to be up to her, whatever she thinks is credible, she should release.”
Trump again tried to pour water on the controversy, concluding, “I don’t understand why the Jeffrey Epstein case would be of interest to anybody. It’s pretty boring stuff. It’s sordid, but it’s boring, and I don’t understand why it keeps going.”
Famed defense attorney Alan Dershowitz is now chiming in as well, making the same claim as Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel regarding the Epstein files.
Dershowitz recently wrote an op-ed on the subject, in part stating, “Epstein never created a ‘client list.’ The FBI interviewed alleged victims who named several ‘clients.’ These names have been redacted.”
He also defended Trump, stating, “Open records show an acquaintance between Epstein and Mr. Trump many years ago. That relationship ended when Mr. Trump reportedly banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago, long before becoming president. I have seen nothing that would suggest anything improper or even questionable by Mr. Trump.”
This is a big deal because Trump and his surrogates made it into one during the 2024 campaign, but now they are trying to bury it. As to the comments by Dershowitz, if victims named people, then there actually is an Epstein client list, even if it was not created by Epstein himself. I stand by my theory that this administration, when it saw the depth of Epstein’s reach, simply decided that burying the information was the better call rather than ending so many careers and causing untold instability in the system.
