President Donald Trump has found himself the subject of sexual abuse allegations by author E. Jean Carroll.
Trump denied the allegations, but he lost a key case in civil court, though the jury did not find him liable for rape.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) just pushed that envelopes and leveled some incendiary claims, nd now Trump surrogates want him to go after her for defamation.
In May 2023, Trump got the bad news that the jury in the E. Jean Carroll civil suit sided with the author, but not in total.
The jury found Trump liable for sexually abusing Carroll, but they did not go so far as to say that Trump had raped her.
The judge in the case, however, broke from tradition, saying that Trump had raped Carroll in a very unprofessional rant after the verdict came in.
Trump and his attorneys continued to deny that Trump had done anything wrong, even after the decision was issued.
Trump also lost his appeal of the case and was ordered to pay Carroll $5 million in damages.
His team responded, “The American People are supporting President Trump in historic numbers, and they demand an immediate end to the political weaponization of our justice system and a swift dismissal of all of the Witch Hunts, including the Democrat-funded Carroll Hoaxes, the defense of which the Attorney General has determined is legally required to be taken over by the Department of Justice because Carroll based her false claims on the President’s official acts, including statements from the White House.”
His legal team also expressed its gratitude that Trump would not be branded as a “rapist” with the decision.
That verdict meant nothing to AOC, who has continued to attack Trump with precisely that label, doing so again this past weekend.
AOC took to social media to comment on the lack of a client list in the Epstein files, stating, "Wow who would have thought that electing a rapist would have complicated the release of the Epstein Files?"
Legal analyst Phil Holloway immediately chimed in, stating, "The President should sue AOC into bankruptcy. I realize she’s trying to raise her profile but this is way way too far.”
Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) added, "Even under the ridiculously lenient standards of NY Times v. Sullivan, you’ve managed to incur defamation liability Wow.” Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) posted, "Why didn’t you guys release the Epstein files over the last 4 years? Maybe you were too busy covering for Joe Biden… or, could it have something to do with another former Democrat President?"
I know Trump just wants to put that Carroll business behind him, but I am with the crowd on this one, and I would love to see Trump bankrupt AOC over this. The problem, of course, is that the case would likely wind up before a liberal judge who would probably just dismiss it. Sadly, AOC gets another 15 minutes of uncontested publicity because Trump knows the likelihood of winning such a case is very slim. But you never know, if he gets poked enough, Trump just might file a suit on a whim to see if he can take her down once and for all.
