Presisdent Donald Trump is on the warpath against top-ranked Democrats, having already gone after New York Attorney General Letitia James.
Trump now has Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) in his sights.
The president is doubling down on allegations that Schiff may have committed actionable mortgage fraud, with the senator almost immediately returning fire.
It did not take long for Trump’s DOJ to put James on the defensive when it comes to mortgage-related conduct
In April, charges were referred to the Justice Deparment by the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), suggesting that James engaged in a pattern of mortgage fraud.
According to FHFA Director William Pulte, James falsified records on her properties to secure favorable interest rates.
After the referral was announced, James’ office stated that the NY AG is "focused every single day on protecting New Yorkers, especially as this administration weaponizes the federal government against the rule of law and the Constitution. She will not be intimidated by bullies -- no matter who they are."
Several weeks ago, reports broke that Schiff may have been playing games with his mortgage as well, and Trump now wants the DOJ to go after him.
According to Trump, Fannie Mae’s financial crimes division has concluded that Schiff “engaged in a sustained pattern of possible Mortgage Fraud.”
Trump posted to Truth Social, “Adam Schiff said that his primary residence was in MARYLAND to get a cheaper mortgage and rip off America, when he must LIVE in CALIFORNIA because he was a Congressman from CALIFORNIA. I always knew Adam Schiff was a Crook.”
He continued, “Mortgage Fraud is very serious, and CROOKED Adam Schiff (now a Senator) needs to be brought to justice.”
Just as we would expect, after Trump went after Schiff, the senator fired a few shots back at the president.
Schiff, like most Democrats, is leaning into the narrative that Trump is using the military -- as well as judicial system -- against Americans to gain some political points. He stated, “Trump feeds on that chaos. So this was by his design. To see the Guard so misused in that way, the trust that Californians have for the Guard abused in that way was just awful."
The senator added, “Plus those Guard members that he took off their ordinary duties it meant at present, when we’re already dealing with fires breaking out in California, they were understaffed because we rely on our Guard in case of fire and other emergency. So I think they had to cut them loose sooner or later.”
I just find it rather funny that Schiff accuses Trump of feeding off of “chaos,” when that is clearly the game plan for Democrats. They have been creating instability in this country dating back to Barack Obama's second term in office, then they literally set the country on fire during Trump’s first term. I suspect they will try to do it again during his second. Nothing would make me happier than to see Schiff in an orange jumpsuit.
