PA Gov. Josh Shapiro is among those attacking Trump for the strikes against Iran, but he was forced to backtrack when Bill Maher backed him into a corner.
Maher has been very good lately at setting up Democrats for the kill shot to expose their hypocrisy, yet Shapiro still fell into the trap.
Then, after Shapiro admitted he would have acted, the excuse he gave regarding his attacks against Trump was nothing but lies.
Shortly after the attack against Iran was launched, Secretary of State Marco Rubio was blistered with questions about why Operation Epic Fury was launched.
In late February, Rubio noted that Iran was attempting to develop long-range missiles, and it appeared to be trying to revive its nuclear program. Reuters reported that Rubio stated this was a “grave” threat to the United States, later adding that Iran was “on a pathway” to developing missiles that could potentially reach the United States.
The reaction by Democrats and the media to this revelation was comical, saying there was no “imminent” threat, as well as citing Trump’s claim that the nuclear program had been destroyed.
Apparently, both parties are incapable of distinguishing between developed, restarting, and imminent. The administration made it clear that it would not let it reach the point of an imminent threat, at least not under Trump.
The media and Democrats have also been critical of claiming the administration wanted regime change, one of the reasons they claimed they did not support Operation Epic Fury.
Trump was clear from the outset, as was Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, that this was not about regime change, but that would be a nice benefit were it to happen.
On March 2, NBC News reported that Hegseth stated, “This is not a so-called regime-change war, but the regime sure did change, and the world is better off for it.”
He later added, “This operation is a clear, devastating, decisive mission: destroy the missile threat, destroy the navy, no nukes.”
All of these statements were made either before Operation Epic Fury was started or within days of the operation being launched, yet Dems and the media had tried to say that the administration never informed the American people why this operation was taking place, trying to make it sound as if Trump was firing from the hip.
Here we are in mid-March, and Democrats are still using the same tired defense, once again believing that if they say it enough, everyone has to believe it.
To that point, Bill Maher backed Gov. Shapiro into a corner, asking him, "Our chief negotiator said they were talking to Iran up until the war started. He said their opening salvo at the negotiations, ‘We’re a couple of weeks away from having 11 bombs.’ If you were the president, and you got that information, you would still do nothing?"
Shapiro, according to Fox News, responded, "No. What I would do and what the president of the United States failed to do was be clear with the American people about what the hell we were doing here. Was the plan to go after the nuclear weapons? The weapons, by the way, he said were destroyed … seven months ago. Was the plan to go and do regime change? In which case, who the hell is going to take over? I don't think the son [Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei] is any better than the father. Was the plan to go in there later, but you got forced because Netanyahu forced your hand?"
Your questions have been asked and answered, Mr. Shapiro, so you either were not paying attention or are simply lying to the American people. Either way, you are quickly making a case against your fitness to run for higher office. I would also note that it is insulting to those risking their lives as well as those who have lost their lives to pretend this operation is rudderless simply so you can score some political points.
