President Donald Trump has had an amazing string of victories recently, and that continued this week, when he managed to get three key nominees passed through the Senate.
Trump had two big picks for his administration approved, but they were not his biggest wins.
That came in the form of having his former attorney, Emil Bove, appointed to the judiciary.
A key ingredient to the success of this administration will be its energy policies.
To that point, Trump was able to get David A. Wright approved as the head of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
Writing passed with a vote of 50-39, now serving in this position for the second time.
Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Chair Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) believes that Wright will play a major role in fulfilling Trump’s energy agenda, stating, "Achieving this will require experienced and highly qualified Commissioners who are empowered to lead the Agency through a period of high expectations. Well, David Wright meets that mark."
The second big win for Trump was seeing the president's CDC pick securing approval, but this could also present a bit of an internal problem for the administration.
Susan Monarez passed through on a party-line vote, 51-47.
She was handpicked by Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., but she has made statements in the past that show these two could clash when it comes to vaccines.
Monarez does have Trump’s full support, however, as the president previously stated, "Dr. Monarez will work closely with our GREAT Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert Kennedy Jr. Together, they will prioritize Accountability, High Standards, and Disease Prevention to finally address the Chronic Disease Epidemic and, MAKE AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN!"
The third win for Trump was arguably the biggest of them all, with Emil Bove passing through as a key appointment for Trump to the federal appellate bench.
Bove barely made it through with a vote of 50-49, as Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME) both rejected his nomination.
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), however, sang Bove's praises, stating, "He has a strong legal background and has served his country honorably. I believe he will be a diligent, capable, and fair jurist.”
Democrats were furious that Trump was putting his personal attorney into a robe, staging walkouts and engaging in foul-mouthed rants on the floor of the Senate. It was rather amusing hearing Democrats rage about a “Trumpian” and activist being put on the bench. During Joe Biden’s term, they were putting activists on the bench who could not even answer the most basic legal questions.
