The Epstein files just won’t go away.
President Donald Trump probably thought he had this controversy put to rest, as it had died down recently to some extent.
However, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), someone Trump has threatened to primary, and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), a rising star in the Democratic Party, are now promising a bombshell file release.
After years of Trump and his surrogates touting the release of the Epstein files as something Americans deserved, when push came to shove, the administration suggested that there was actually nothing there to see.
Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel said there was no client list.
This created massive outrage among MAGA, who were previously teased by Bondi that she had the list on her desk.
Bondi wrote the situation off to a miscommunication, but MAGA was not buying.
Trump tried to quell the outrage by telling MAGA to just knock it off, literally.
The president posted to Truth Social, “Let those weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work."
He continued, “Don’t even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don’t want their support anymore.”
Initially, the strategy did not work, but over the last few weeks, the outrage has fizzled, Democrats have dropped the attacks, and it appeared that this story had indeed died out -- until now.
You just knew that Massie was going to find a way to get back at Trump, and he found a willing partner in Khanna, who I still believe will run for president, if not in 2028, then soon thereafter.
Khanna announced, "These victims haven't spoken for decades. When Epstein got that lenient plea deal, no one talked to the victims or their lawyers.”
He is positive that he and Massie have the votes they need to get legislation passed that would force a full release, stating, "We've got 212 Democrats and 12 Republicans, including Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert. Look, this is not about Donald Trump, and it's not partisan. This is about justice for the victims of rich and powerful men who abused underage girls."
I can tell you this… if there is a high-profile politician, Republican or Democrat, or a big donor that is mentioned in those files, MAGA is going to go nuts. I am not saying that Trump is losing his hold on MAGA, far from it, but there have been some cracks, and I don’t like what I am seeing in Iowa right now. I am hoping beyond hope that is not the case, as this could wreck the GOP in midterms if there is a bombshell in the files, which Khanna and Massie seem to believe that there is.
