Reports broke this week that a Russian strike inside a NATO territory took place amid its war with Ukraine.
This strike comes after Israel was said to have conducted a strike inside Qatar.
President Donald Trump is not happy about either of those events, and it sounds a lot like we are very close to the brink of WWIII.
Israel recently conducted a strike in Doha to take out multiple Hamas leaders.
Qatar’s prime minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, was livid that the strike was conducted within its borders.
He told reporters, “The State of Qatar is committed to act in a decisive way with anything that would target its territories and will reserve the right to retaliate and will take all the needed measures to retaliate.”
He later added, “It reflects the barbarism of this person that is leading the region, unfortunately, to a point where we cannot address any situation, and we cannot repair anything, and we cannot work within the frameworks of international laws.”
Trump reportedly told Qatar that the strike was happening, but the administration seems mixed on the decision to carry out the strike.
After the strike was reported, Trump stated, "Unilaterally bombing inside Qatar, a Sovereign Nation and close Ally of the United States, that is working very hard and bravely taking risks with us to broker Peace, does not advance Israel or America's goals.”
Trump added that the final decision to conduct the strike "was a decision made by Prime Minister Netanyahu, it was not a decision made by me."
This is likely to escalate the situation in the Middle East, and it could not come at a worse time, as tensions have significantly escalated on the Russian-Ukraine front.
A report surfaced early this morning that Russians fired drones into Polish territory, a NATO country, in what would be considered a significant escalation in its war with Ukraine. As a NATO country, Poland is protected under Article 5 of the NATO treaty, which means that an attack against Poland would be considered an attack against all NATO countries, therefore, considered an act of war.
Russia immediately denied that the drones were theirs, with Andrei Ordash, Moscow's chief diplomat in Poland, who had been summoned by Warsaw, stating, "We know one thing – these drones were flying from the direction of Ukraine.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksy, however, had stated, "In total, at least several dozen Russian drones were moving along the Ukraine-Belarus border and in the western regions of Ukraine, approaching targets in Ukraine and, apparently, Poland.”
So, this was either a false flag operation run by Ukraine to escalate matters or Russia just risked starting World War III. Trump responded, "What’s with Russia violating Poland’s airspace with drones? Here we go!"
The second half of the response was odd, especially since Trump has been anti-war, as the sentiment from the left is that the president wants to get us into military conflict, but I doubt that is the case, considering how thin resources are right now. We will continue to monitor this situation, as it is very tense, and could escalate further at any time depending upon how this report pans out.
