Donald Trump’s peace deal between Hamas and Israel just got a little bit better, if that is possible.
Hamas was not expected to release hostages until mid-week, but that process has already started.
This is yet another huge win for Trump, as Democrats are still trying to figure out how to respond to his peace deal.
After the initial agreement was announced, it was stated that once the terms were formalized, there would be a 24-hour countdown, then Hamas would have a 72-hour window to start releasing hostages.
On Saturday, as Trump was about to head to Israel for the formal signing of the agreement, Trump broke the news that some hostages would be released early.
He stated, "So, they have the hostages -- I understand all 20 -- and we may get them out a little bit early. Getting them was amazing, actually, because we were involved, and they were in places you don’t want to know about."
This was a great show of faith by Hamas, which now clearly appears to want to end this war with Israel, realizing that the hammer was about to fall.
After Hamas released the hostages, Trump offered a personal note to the Israelis. He wrote, "This is my great honor -- a great and beautiful day. A new beginning.”
Now, there is still a question regarding the return of dead hostages, of which there were reportedly more than two dozen, but Hamas has reportedly only returned four of the bodies thus far.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz was upset over the development, stating, “The urgent mission we are all committed to now is to ensure the return of all the fallen hostages home. Hamas’s announcement of the expected return of four bodies today constitutes a failure to meet its commitments.” He then added that “any delay or deliberate avoidance will be considered a blatant violation of the agreement and will be met accordingly.”
This is not a positive development, by any means, as we all know that while Israel is accepting this peace deal, it would much prefer to wipe Hamas off the face of the map. If there is any violation of this agreement, Israel appears ready to blow up the agreement.
Trump traveled to Israel to sign this deal in person because he knows that this is his legacy as a president, as does Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Netanyahu applauded Trump over the deal, stating, "No American president has ever done more for Israel. It ain’t even close."
He then added, "Thank you for supporting Operation Rising Lion and for your bold decision to launch Operation Midnight Hammer. Boy, you got to hear this -- this is the most fitting name ever given to a military operation, because a little after midnight, you really hammered them."
Now we all just have to hope that Israel’s taunts do not have Hamas backing out of the deal at the last second, as that would be a disaster on numerous fronts. I am trying to stay as positive as possible, as this would be a monumental achievement for Trump, and it should make him the frontrunner for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, something with which the president has been obsessed over the years. Here’s to everlasting peace!
