Reason behind Maurene Comey's DOJ firing revealed

Last week, a report broke that Maurene Comey, the daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, had been fired from her role with the Department of Justice (DOJ).

The immediate speculation from the media and from Democrats was that President Donald Trump was on yet another revenge mission.

This week, that narrative was shattered when it was revealed exactly why Comey was terminated, and it had nothing to do with revenge.

No reason

The headlines after Comey was dismissed from her job as a federal prosecutor in New York  were very predictable.

Comey herself came forward and said that she had been fired “without reason.”

The media jumped all over that assertion, with the New York Times publishing a report saying the administration was setting Comey up as a “scapegoat” over the Epstein files debacle.

Virtually every leftist mainstream media publication came to her defense.

Her father, James Comey, also came to his daughter's defense after the firing.

Comey stated, "I don't have much to add to that, except to say: the reservoir is in grave danger right now.”

He continued, "Trump and the hacks who lead the Department of Justice are hammering at the dam day after day, trying to turn it into just another gold-leaf-covered Trump subsidiary."

James Comey continued, "Our best hope is that good people will stay and do what Maureen asked -- have the courage to do the right thing, always. You may get fired for acting that way, but there's honor in that—and nothing but disgrace for those who don't stand up."

Failures revealed

It was very clear that the media and Democrats were not going to let this go, but it was just revealed why Comey was fired from her role as a prosecutor.

Comey dropped the ball in two major cases, including the recent trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs, in which she failed to secure convictions on the serious charges, which would have ensured that the disgraced music mogul never saw the outside of a prison again.

David Gelman, a Philadelphia-area attorney and former prosecutor, explained, "There didn’t need to be any reason for her firing. It could be job performance, which would be warranted because the Diddy trial was an absolute mess, and she was the head of it. The outcome was not what the SDNY wanted."

The bottom line here is that we finally have an administration willing to hold people accountable, and that is not sitting well with Democrats. During the Biden administration, I cannot recall the firing of a single high-ranking official, and that includes former Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, even after he went MIA for a medical procedure about which the White House did not even know. The left will continue to push the narrative that this dismissal was to get back at James Comey, but the reality is that Maurene Comey failed to win what should have been several open-and-shut cases.
