Poilce appear to debunk claim of stolen records at MN daycare facility

The fallout from Nick Shirley's viral video has been rather interesting to follow.

For instance, the day after Shirley's reporting made headlines, a Somali-run daycare center in Minnesota claimed it had been broken into, vandalized, and had all of its relevant documents stolen.

Shirley now says that he is receiving death threats over his exposé, and making matters even more intriguing, local police just debunked the aforementioned theft claim from the manager of the daycare facility.

Vandalized

The Nokomis Daycare Center, a Somali-run daycare in Minneapolis, claimed that the center had been robbed and vandalized in the wake of Shirley’s report, pointing the finger at Shirley's video as the reason why.

The facility's representative stated, "The rhetoric of the video seeks to promote division and hate towards the Somali community, which has real-life consequences as evidenced by the damage sustained by the center.”

Nasrulah Mohamed, a manager at the daycare center, further claimed that "important documentation," including documents related to employees and enrolled children, had all been taken.

Mainstream media and business owners in the vicinity have been pushing back against Shirley’s video, suggesting that he either visited the daycare centers during off-hours or that the proprietors were scared to open their doors to him and his crew.

Not true

Local police in Minneapolis are now calling out the Nokomis DayCare Center for lying about the supposedly missing documentation.

The police did acknowledge that the center had called in a report for a robbery, but it noted that the documents it says had been stolen were not mentioned when the initial report was given.

It was then reported that the center reached out to the police again, but no details were offered as to any update.

This could be a case where the daycare operators did not realize that the records were missing after having checked around, or this could be someone just attempting to cover themselves after Shirley's report. That is all conjecture, however, as the local police have not yet updated the status of the situation.

Death threats

The flip side of this report is that Shirley is now claiming that he and his family are receiving death threats over his documentation of the alleged fraud.

He explained, "They are saying, like, ‘Kirked — you’re going to be Kirked. You’re going to be Kirked.’ That’s what they’re saying — like, you’re next. You’ll be the next [Charlie] Kirk.”

As I had reported earlier today, all the mainstream media outlets reporting on this have been framing Shirley as a right-wing YouTuber, but he maintains that his report was merely designed to provide details of the fraud that had already been reported elsewhere (the story first broke in the New York Times).

Things are just getting out of hand. People are upset with the messenger here, but they should be upset about the fraud taking place. And I am not going to pretend that Shirley’s video was infallible, as I had some questions myself about it (some of it seemed staged). However, the reality is that we do know the centers in this particular community are rife with fraud. And I would offer similar words of caution to anyone threatening these business owners. Dial it down, and let the investigators do their jobs. Let’s not turn this into a situation that is any uglier than it has already become. I am sure that the FBI will get to the bottom of this.
